Film Titles and Logo design

Every film that gets produced and made has a title sequence before the film starts ,there is a certain order nearly every film follows in order to achieve a desirable title sequence. Here is the order are titles will appear on the screen in accordance to other films previous sequences.

With the title order decided we had to then produce a logo to match our production company's name,Free Raven Films. We came up with the concept of a Raven trying to escape form a cave . This particularly the current film we were making Peek-A-Boo as it is a horror film and the connotation of a raven is darkness and fear something that the horror genre also embodies.

This is our final design for our film logo. Instead of using a cave image behind the raven we opted for a blue sky with dark and light clouds to portray a feeling of both good and bad, something present in alot of horror films. We opted for a childlike logo such as other films company's have such as Bad robot. We thought this added a creepy effect even before the film had begun. As to connect children with horror is very sinister, giving people also a taster of the film before it has even began as children / babies are the basis of our plot line.

Another aspect we had to take into consideration when making the titles for our film Peek-A-Boo were the effects and the design of them . We opted for a black backdrop for the titles with red translucent writing . We took this idea from the famous horror film Halloween that we analysed earlier on. We also used the same effect for when the titles appear and disappear. The effect being fading in and out of the screen. Finally after creating these images we put our main soundtrack behind the title sequence. We chose to go for a track called horror "Pop goes the weasel" and it is a dramatic production of the famous children's nursery rhyme . We felt this fitted our film perfectly as it has a horror sense to the track that is very strong and creepy along with the song relating to the film because it is about a mother losing her child and in turn becoming jealous of other mothers and killing them out of pure spite . Therefore the theme of children along with horror was a perfect combination that suited the context of the film, whilst sticking to regular stereotypes of horror music . These stereotypes being loud and dark music which is very chilling.
